The MAC Board has received some questions regarding the COVID-19 vaccine and how it will be distributed to healthcare providers in Michigan. We contacted the Michigan COVID hotline for more information. They advised that healthcare providers should contact their local county health department if they are not associated with a hospital with vaccine distribution plans or do not already know how their workplace is providing access to the vaccine. Audiologists are considered eligible for the COVID vaccine at this time as an allied health professional. Some MAC members have received emails directly from their county health department regarding scheduling an appointment for a vaccination.
If you have not heard from your county health department and do not have a plan for vaccination yet, consider giving them a call to see if you can schedule an appointment. You can be vaccinated in either the county you live in or the county you work in if you are going through the county health department.
